Railway Safety Presentation

Network Rail—Rail Safety Visit

On Tuesday, Network Rail came into Orchard Vale to do an assembly on railway safety. They told us some of the main ways to stay safe around trains and made some important points which include always stay off the track, on a platform always stay behind the yellow line and when crossing on a level crossing stop, look, listen.

They also explained how only Network Rail workers were the only people to go on the track but even they needed a warrant and had to wear an orange jacket and a hard hat to keep them safe on the tracks.

The last thing they talked about was the power lines and how the electricity can jump 3 meters closer to the earth if something metal is within 3 meters of the power line.

The main message was definitely stay of the track.
