Lunchtime is an important part of our day and we make a special effort to make it a positive, enjoyable time for the children.
We have a kitchen on site and meals are cooked daily. There are a choice of meals, there is always a vegetarian option or you can request for your child to have a jacket potato.
We promote ‘healthy eating’ and our menus reflect this.
The meals are of an excellent quality. Menus are available from the School Office as well as on our website.
Children can opt for a school dinner on a daily basis. Children will have a choice of a main meal, vegetarian, jacket potato or a school packed lunch.
Payment is made using your child's Parentpay account.
Children may also bring a packed lunch from home if they wish.

At Orchard Vale we encourage an active lunchtime.
Each day we aim to give varied activities from which the children can choose. Some of the activities available to the children include team sports, such as Hockey, Tag Rugby and Kwik Cricket.
There are also ‘quiet areas’ of the playground where children can explore and experiment with construction or Role Play. Weather permitting we have Den Building or Bug Hunting.
We signed up with the Young Leaders Award Scheme. This is a Holistic Leadership programme that promotes children between the ages of 9 – 13 to work with younger children.
We call these children ‘Play Leaders’. They learn leadership skills through a range of games and activities. It encourages them to deliver settings, organisation of people and equipment and be able to take and deliver instructions.
At the end of the programme they would have gained confidence by ‘learning by doing’ and to be
able to lead others.
We encourage the children in years 5 and 6 to have a go on the Programme. If successful in fulfilling the criteria they receive a certificate.
