Visit to Barnstaple Guildhall/Tour of Barnstaple and Rock Park

Key Stage One are studying The Great Fire of London as part of our topic this term.  Part of our research involves a comparison between the history of London and that of Barnstaple.  With this in mind, we have planned to take the children to the Guildhall in Barnstaple, have a guided tour of the historical sites in the town centre and finish off the day with a visit to Rock Park before returning to school.

We plan to walk from school into Barnstaple and will be collected by a coach at 2.30pm to return to school.  Should the weather be too wet to visit the park we will be returning to school earlier.

The Friends of Orchard Vale have kindly offered to cover the majority of the transport cost and we have funding to cover the remainder.

On the day children should come to school wearing their school uniform, as usual.  They will also need to bring with them:-

A small rucksack

Waterproof coat

Wear sensible shoes as we will be doing a lot of walking

A packed lunch

Plenty to drink in a named, plastic drinks bottle

If you have pre-booked a packed lunch through your teacher this will be provided for your child.
