Our Nursery

Here at Orchard Vale Nursery we pride ourselves in giving children confidence with the hope of a deep love for learning, gaining experiences and learn new skills to enrich them throughout their school life. Our nursery can currently provide for 26 places in one session (however this may be subject to change due to the high demand at various times of the year). We have a large main room which we encourage continuous provision throughout the day, this enables children to develop their learning in all areas of the curriculum in order for them to achieve their full potential. We provide an inclusive practice and feel strongly that all children deserve the opportunity to have access with all provisions provided deepening the children’s knowledge.

We also have an outside area which we use throughout the day along with two forest school areas which we share with the school. Our outdoor learning enables children to have freedom to explore and be physical. Our children love being outside as its fun, exciting and very important for children’s development. We are very fortunate to have our very own PE sessions with our onsite PE champion, Mr Ovey. The children love these PE lessons; they are a great chance to further develop their fine and gross motor skills.

Toilet training can difficult for some children, so we like to work hard with parents/guardians to help all children become independent with toileting. However, if children are not toilet trained we have a changing area which can be used for children in nappies.

Our nursery is staffed by a friendly teacher and a level 3 NVQ trained early year’s practitioner. We have meal time assistants which help support children at lunch time. Children can bring their own packed lunch or have a hot dinner provided by the school kitchen. If your child is having a hot dinner provided, then dinner tickets can be purchased in the school office. We have a self-register system for you and your child to use when dropping off to ensure we know what lunch your child requires.

Our sessions run:

Session 1 -  8:30 – 11:30 or 12:30 (if staying till 12:30 this will include lunch)

Session 2 – 11.30 – 15:30 (includes lunchtime)

Session 3 – 12:30 – 15:30

We also offer extra hours which are charged at £4.60 per hour (as of 25 April 2022) and invoiced on a termly basis with two payment windows. The first payment is due at the beginning of the term and the second payment is to be made at half term.

We request that you use the nursery garden for the 8:30am drop-off and the 3.30pm pick-up, any other times use our side entrance to collect your child. (where an intercom system is in operation).

Orchard Vale Nursery will be offering 30 hours funding for those children eligible from September 2017.
In order to check eligibility please go to www.childcarechoices.gov.uk
Once you have done this and have your 11 digit eligibility code (starting with 5000) please download and complete the form below and return to the school office.
If you wish to apply for a place at Nursery, please contact the school office for an application form or download one below.

Once this is filled out return to the office with a copy of the birth certificate.

Our nursery co-ordinator, Mrs Stacey, will then contact you the term before your child is due to start to speak to you about organising a home visit, open mornings and allocating your hours.

Once your child has started Nursery we do ask that if you wish to make any changes to their hours, unless it is special circumstances, that these be done the start of the next term due to staffing arrangements.

If your child has a place in our Nursery this does not automatically give them a place in our Reception class. You will need to apply through Admissions Online for a school place. You can check when you will need to apply for a school place on the Admissions website. If you need any help please contact Heidi Stacey.
