Exmoor Challenge 2019

Exmoor Challenge 2019

Orchard Vale have taken part in the Exmoor Challenge 3 years running.

The challenge entails the children following a 16 mile, unmarked route using instructions, map reading and compass skills.

There are a series of check points along the route and each leg has to be completed with a pre-determined time.

The event is run by the Rotary Club of Exmoor and the Exmoor Search and Rescue, who provide marshals along the route.

The event raises sponsorship monies for The Children's Hospice South West.

This year all Year 6 children took part in 2 Orienteering walks.  One at Codden Hill and one around the Goodleigh area.  During these sessions the children have learnt to navigate their way using a map and compass.
