The Cheerful Charlies do Maths with Mr Butler

On Friday Mr Butler popped into see us to talk about his job as a policeman.

The children had planned questions in advance to ask him.  Then they had a tour of the Police car and he showed them all the equipment the police need and how they use them. They really enjoyed putting Miss Batchelor in handcuffs!

In the afternoon each class learnt how important maths is in his job when investigating a crime scene. Mr Butler set up a 'car accident' in the playground.  He then gave the children a crime scene sheet to complete and showed them how the police have to measure where each vehicle is.

Then they had a go with the trundle wheels and tape measures!

The children had great fun and learnt how important it is to measure accurately.
